Video: Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes


Tomatoes tainted with salmonella sickened more than 167 people across 17 states, and caused major food chains like McDonalds (MCD), Burger King (BKC) and Taco Bell (YUM) to pull them from their menus. Now one Texas resident is dead, and all Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach says is that they hope to determine the source of the nationwide tomato outbreak "in the next few days."

While the nation waits for answers, New Yorkers proceed with life and lunch as usual. Surprisingly, many aren’t living in fear of the bacterial infection, but more so, wondering what’s next to top the do not eat list. Could it be the beet? What about the turnip? For most New Yorkers surveyed on Wall Street, broccoli is a sacred green. You can take my sanity, but please don’t take my broccoli.
