About 1.4 million kids’ shoes are being recalled due to a choking hazard posed by decorative wheels that could come loose.
The recall includes Buster Brown Clog Children’s Shoes sold in kids’ sizes 5 to 13 and youth sizes 1-3 were sold at stores including Famous Footwear, J.C. Penney (Stock Quote: JCP), Meijer, Sears (Stock Quote: SHLD), Target (Stock Quote: TGT), and Wal-Mart (Stock Quote: WMT) from August 2007 through June 2009 for $10 to $25.
The plastic-molded water clogs, designed to resemble cars, came in red, brown, blue, yellow, and pink. Some include Transformers and Barbie themes. “Buster Brown & Co.” is printed on a sewn-in tag inside the fleece-lined shoe.
The distributors Brown Shoe Co. and its affiliate Pagoda International Footwear have received two reports of a decorative wheel detaching from the shoe. No injuries have been reported.
The shoe model numbers affected by the recall can be found on the Consumer Products Safety Commission’s Web site.
Consumers are urged to take the shoes away from children immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Buster Brown can be reached at (888) 869-1044, online at www.busterbrownshoes.com or by email to Busterandtige@brownshoe.com with any questions.
In April, 73,000 CARS Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes distributed in the United States with Buster Brown and Disney (Stock Quote: DIS) labels, were recalled after decorative wheels detached from a shoe.
