Recall Watch: Little Tikes Toys

The Little Tikes Co. is recalling some 1.6 million toy workshops and trucks, after an 11-month-old boy choked on a plastic nail that became lodged in his throat.

The Goose Creek, S.C., boy was hospitalized and made a full recovery, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall includes four workshop sets and one toy pickup truck that include the plastic nails as part of their package. The items were sold at mass retailers nationwide and various Web sites from March 1994 to June 2009 for between $25 and $100.

The workshop sets and the truck are all intended for use by children 2 and up, according to product descriptions on the Little Tikes Web site.

The recalled nails measure about 3 1/4" long and come in red and blue colors. To see if your Little Tikes purchase might be one of the recalled items, visit the company's Web site for pictures and model numbers.

The CPSC advised owners of the recalled items to immediately take the nails away from young children and to contact Little Tikes for free replacements. For details on how to receive free replacement nails, call 800-791-2737 or fill out a form on the Little Tikes Web site.
