The position: Test cook for America's Test Kitchen

Location: Brookline Village, Mass.

Job duties: Responsible for developing recipes and writing articles for magazines or books. For magazines, test cooks write bylined articles describing the process by which they developed recipes, detailing how and why they ended up with the final recipe. Test cooks may also participate in videos demonstrating the making of each recipe. Or the test cook may be assigned book chapters and will be expected to complete recipe development, write essays and contribute other material necessary to complete chapter manuscripts on deadline. Test cooks must also handle photo shoot prep work and execution.

The company: America's Test Kitchen is a publishing company that revolves around a fully-equipped test kitchen where cooks and editors develop recipes and cooking techniques that are then featured in the company's two magazines, its line of cookbooks or on television shows.

Requirements: Requires at least four years of restaurant experience. A degree from an accredited culinary arts program is a plus, and applicants must be able to adapt the test kitchen style of recipe development to a variety of topics under tight deadlines, while maintaining the quality of recipe development for which the company is known.
