The position: Full-time songwriting faculty member at Berklee College of Music

Location: Boston

Job duties: The ultimate goal of this position (and the songwriting major) is to help students learn songwriting and production techniques that will allow them to compose well-written songs and produce those songs at a professional level. The person hired for this position will be responsible for teaching Songwriting 1 and 2 and Lyric Writing 1 and 2. Will also help develop a songwriting course that reflects methods by which many current songs are written, meaning starting with a well-produced track and then writing melody and lyrics to it. Will work with a curriculum that involves a variety of technology and production courses.

The company: Berklee College of Music is a nonprofit institute of higher education. The school offers a dozen music-related majors.

Requirements: Requires experience as a professional songwriter, as well as classroom teaching experience. Must have strong abilities as both a lyricist and a composer. Bachelor's degree preferred, but will consider applicants without a degree who have teaching experience at the college or professional level. Must have well-developed technology skills, especially production skills that preferably include the use of sequencing software. The college seeks candidates who are creative, committed to excellence in teaching and supportive of the school's climate of promoting cultural diversity and multicultural understanding.

Extra perks: This is a full-time, nine-month position, so the person hired will get summers off.
