The position: Nature center coordinator for the city of San Marcos

Location: San Marcos, Texas

Job duties: In this role, you would oversee the daily operations of the San Marcos Nature Center, including the maintenance of the center and its grounds. You’ll manage the center's nonprofit nursery to promote the use of native plants; coordinate the study and preservation of the San Marcos River ecosystem; and manage all nature center vents, activities and workshops, including community service projects such as river clean-ups. You will maintain a butterfly house exhibit, as well as research and apply for grants.

The company: San Marcos is located on Interstate 35, in the Austin/San Antonio region of Texas. It is home to Texas State University, and was named one of the "Top Ten Places to Raise Kids" by Business Week magazine.

Requirements: This job requires a bachelor's degree in biology, horticulture or environmental science. You must have two years of experience in developing and managing programs for youth and adults, including at least one year of supervisory experience. Knowledge of native plants and horticulture is preferred. And applicants must have experience working with computer software, including spreadsheets and word processing programs. You must be able to swim and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
