The position: Lead park ranger for the Denver Mountain Parks
Location: Various locations around Denver
Job duties: If you hate being cooped up in an office, like interacting with outdoorsy types or are just a huge Yogi Bear fan this might be the perfect job for you. You will play an important leadership role in the administration of the City and County of Denver's urban and mountain parks system. You will lead a team that provides educational programming to park visitors, protects natural resources and enforces city ordinances and park rules. You will implement, evaluate and recommend improvements in the day-to-day operations of the Park Ranger program. You will also patrol urban and mountain parks, trails and facilities, both on foot and in a vehicle. Will participate in the recruitment and selection of seasonal employees. Must be able to effectively communicate with law enforcement personnel, especially when responding to safety and environmental emergencies.
The company: The City and County of Denver has more than 350 urban parks, one of the largest skate parks in the region and 14,000 acres of mountain parks.Requirements: Requires associate's degree in recreation, forestry, wildlife management or a related field. Must have two years (or four seasons) of park experience in public relations, natural science or regulation compliance. Must have valid driver's license and obtain CPR and first aid certification within six months of hire. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
