The position: Gulf oil spill photographer for Associated Press

Location: New Orleans

Job duties: Will assist in covering the Gulf oil spill, and may also take photos for other stories if needed. Works closely with the regional photo editor, national editors and bureau staff to coordinate coverage. Will be expected to generate coverage that enhances the daily AP reports.

Requirements: Requires superior news judgment and a proven ability to generate impressive photos. Must have excellent photography skills, along with the ability to edit digital images and transit them using technology. Must be flexible and able to adapt to breaking news or unexpected circumstances quickly. Multimedia skills, such as the ability to develop slideshows for online use, are a plus. Advanced level proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Creativity is a must, as is the ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to travel.
