The position: Zoo keeper of elephants at the Houston Zoo

Location: Houston

Job duties: Responsible for the care, husbandry and training of the zoo's resident Asian elephants. Will work with and care for elephant calves, bulls and cows across the management continuum. Will be expected to provide the best quality care for the animals by providing environmental and behavioral enrichment opportunities and maintaining a healthy, attractive environment.

The company: The Houston Zoo boasts a "live animal adventure that provides a unique educational and conservation resource serving 1.7 million guests annually." A nonprofit organization, the zoo is home to more than 4,500 exotic animals.

Requirements: Requires a minimum of two years animal experience and a degree from a four-year college program with a major in biological sciences or a related field. Experience working with elephants is a plus. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to lift up to 80 pounds. Applicants must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
