The position: Regional biologist at Ducks Unlimited

Location: Will be based in California, with exact location not yet determined.

Job duties: Will be part of a team responsible for conserving, enhancing and restoring wetlands and associated habitats in California and Nevada's Intermountain West region. Will initiate and manage wetland enhancement and restoration projects, represent Ducks Unlimited at wetland conservation venues and provide technical support to the company's land protection program. Duties will also include developing and maintaining relationships with public and private landowners and agencies that may partner with Ducks Unlimited to enhance and restore wetlands. Will also write and submit proposals to various agencies and foundations, and will be expected to help identify sources of possible funding for project work.

The company: Ducks Unlimited, created by a group of concerned sportsmen in 1937, is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Ducks Unlimited is a grassroots organization whose 773,000 members are conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts.

Requirements: Must have college degree, preferably an advanced degree, in natural science/resources field. Must have at least five years of relevant experience. Applicants must have a working knowledge of wetland ecology and expertise with waterfowl, shorebird and water bird biology. Familiarity with state and federal wetland conservation programs, policies and laws is preferred. Ideally, candidate will have demonstrated experience with state and federal regulatory requirements as they relate to wetlands. Proven proposal/grant writing skills and project management capabilities preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with the Intermountain West's biological resources, environmental issues and public and private stakeholders is very helpful. Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
