Groupon Offers a Great Deal for the 1%

NEW YORK (MainStreet) — If you happen to have thousands of extra dollars lying around, boy does Groupon (Stock Quote: GRPN) have a great deal for you.

For $10,000, you can buy a pair of economy-class tickets for a round-trip flight around the world with up to 10 stopovers on three different continents. The deal is good with several airlines including Delta (Stock Quote: DAL) and Air France, and even comes with a few extra perks like a complimentary steamer trunk and two safari hats. If that’s not fancy enough for you, Groupon is also offering a pair of business-class tickets for $20,000 so you can travel around the world in style.

The “Jet Set Adventure,” as Groupon calls it, is part of a series of special holiday promotions from the site and ranks among the priciest deals Groupon has ever offered. The deal is scheduled to be offered sometime Tuesday and Groupon has not revealed how many tickets are available.

Unfortunately, even luxury deals don’t come without a few catches here and there. While the flight will take you around the world, you are restricted to travel in the Northern Hemisphere only, so forget about going to Australia. Passengers must also fly out from somewhere in the U.S.

Like most daily deals offered on Groupon and other sites, this one will expire within a year, so you better make plans to use it or else you’ll just be throwing away $10,000 or $20,000 for no reason – and only presidential candidates do that.
