Unlike real estate listing sites that have gone public like Trulia and and Zillow, Curbed doesn't make most of its money through paid listings; instead, it plays up the cool factor across its three brands--the house porn, the insidery nightlight insights, the ear-low-to-the-ground fashion scoops--to attract premium advertising. Ahead of today's launch of the new Eater mobile app, Steele discussed his business strategy and outlook on the online media landscape.
