The Creepiest Invention in the World

The world just got a little more complicated and a lot dirtier.

Last month, the first talking sex robot was unveiled at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. Her name is Roxxxy and she is already turning some heads.

“She doesn’t vacuum or cook, but she does almost everything else,” said Douglas Hines, the man behind this odd invention, in an interview with CNN. Hines, and his firm TrueCompanion, claim that 4,000 people have already placed pre-orders for the product and another 20,000 have requested additional information.

As CNN explains, Roxxxy comes equipped with several high-tech qualities, including a customizable personality, skin made from silicone and motor pumps that warm her body with hot air so she is “warm to the touch.”

More from CNN: “Powered by a computer under her soft silicone ‘skin,’ she employs voice-recognition and speech-synthesis software to answer questions and carry on conversations. She even comes loaded with five distinct ‘personalities,’ from Frigid Farrah to Wild Wendy, that can be programmed to suit customers' preferences.” Her only limitation is the battery life, which lasts about three hours at a time.

However, she’s not exactly a cheap date. Roxxxy will sell for $7,000, although right now you can get it for the low price of $6500 online. According to Hines, TrueCompanion will start to distribute the robot in the next few months.

Roxxxy is really the climax to years of perfecting sex dolls. Just last year, a German company released Andy, the first sex android, which actually breathes and has a pulse. That android sells for about half the price of Roxxxy.

Back in 2007, MSNBC predicted that Americans would be having sex with robots by 2010 and legally marrying them by 2050. At the time, it sounded preposterous, but now we may actually be ahead of schedule.

The future is a strange and frightening place.
