Travelers who move fast can score one-way fares on JetBlue Airways (Stock Quote: JBLU) as low as $9 for travel this Saturday, July 11. The special sale, available today only, runs until 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The deal, revealed today by JetBlue on Twitter, is the first of a planned series of Monday sales, which will also be announced on Twitter, according to JetBlue (www.jetblue.com), and known as Cheep Deals.
Seats – which are subject to availability and are expected to sell out fast – include $9 one-way fares between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Nantucket, $9 Boston to JFK, $19 Boston to Washington (Dulles), $19 JFK to Chicago, $29 from Orlando to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
JetBlue says it is freeing up 25 to 50 seats on these and other selected flights at the ultra-cheap rates. This quick sale – announced on the Internet and lasting just one day, is part of an increasingly popular trend – the “flash sale,’’ which airlines, hotels and other travel providers are using.
According to the travel web site Cheapseats.com, the JetBlue sale follows other flash sales by United Airlines (UAUA) and Marriott Hotels (MAR), also announced on Twitter.
