Another holiday, another opportunity to go out and get some free stuff. This fourth of July, many retailers are offering small incentives to stop and shop before you head over to that neighborhood barbecue.

Barnes and Noble is celebrating America by offering 21 free B&N digital classics through Monday, July 5. Titles available for download include The Scarlet Letter, Last of the Mohicans, Uncle Tom’s Cabin and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.  The book retailer normally charges $2.00 to download each of these classics. Those who don’t have a Nook can download the books on Barnes and Noble’s free e-reader.

Coffee is free for the fourth at Tully’s Coffee. The west coast chain is offering a buy-one-get-one-free special on any barista beverage from now until July 5. Check here for a list of participating locations.

Nationwide chain Applebee’s is feeding kids for free through July 5. Kids 10 and under get to choose from a list of entrees that come with fries and a soft drink. You can get two free kids’ meals per adult purchase at participating locations.

You can try six of Denny’s red, white and blue pancake puppies for free if you print out this corresponding Facebook coupon … and make a $2 purchase at a participating location. Pancake puppies are balls of fried pancake batter with blueberries inside. You can drizzle them with white chocolate if you’re feeling patriotic (or have a sweet tooth).

AMC theaters are selling any size popcorn or any size soda for only a $1 on July 4. We’re not sure if this promotion is meant to celebrate the holiday or The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but you can take advantage of it by printing out a coupon the theater chain’s  Facebook page.

Military members, veterans and their families can visit their local museums for free by taking advantage of Blue Star Museums’ summer-long promotion. More than 800 museums in all 50 states are offering free admission.  Those with a military ID who are interested in a field trip can visit the organization’s web site for a list of participating locations.

Those who can’t visit a local museum for free can always console themselves with free ice cream, courtesy of Target and Ben&Jerry’s … as long as they agree to do some good, old fashioned, patriotic community service.
