Your Indispensible Guide to Getting Lost

The season four finale of Lost (DIS) is tonight, and devoted fans across the country are, again, hoping for answers and expecting not to get any. Producers have been tight lipped, sharing only that we’ll learn one of the island’s secrets. What could it be? Something about black smoke monsters and polar bears we hope.

Here are a couple other things we’re wondering, and in typical Lost fashion, anticipate not knowing for at least another season.


  1. How did the Oceanic 6 come to be saved? Where was everyone else?
  2. How does Kate get away with pretending Aaron is her baby? She was supposedly on the island for 101 days after Oceanic flight 815 crashed. That would mean she was 6 months pregnant when she was in handcuffs on the plane.
  3.  What has happened to Claire? Is Claire dead? Is she undead? Is she immortal?
  4.  How does the Island heal its inhabitants? Why can it heal cancer and not bullet wounds, appendicitis or arrows? Surely, Ana Lucia, Shannon (remember her?) Rousseau, Alex and Libby would like to know the answer to that one.
  5.  Why is Jack’s father’s ghost lurking around the island?
  6.  How does the island move? What’s with its electromagnetism?
  7.  Who or what is Jacob?
  8.  How does Ben bounce back and forth between the island and the mainland?
  9.  Smoke? Polar bears? We want answers.
  10.  And finally, what do the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 mean?
