Visitation Denied to Anxiety-Ridden Spears

Sean Preston and Jaden James, you won’t be seeing mommy any time soon. A Los Angeles judge ruled Monday that Britney Spears must stay away from her young sons for at least another month.

The Superior Court commissioner left in place his previous order that the boys’ father, Kevin Federline, have sole temporary custody of the children after listening to testimony about a bizarre incident earlier this month in which the troubled former pop princess was hospitalized following a police standoff.

Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled that a ban on visitations by Spears, 26, would remain in effect pending a Feb. 19 hearing. A court spokesman said Gordon was always reluctant to cut off all contact between a parent and child, but believed he had no choice.

“He doesn’t feel there was any alternative when you consider the safety of the children is the primary factor,” said court spokesman Alan Parachini. The unstable performer ignored her lawyer’s advice to attend the daylong closed-door hearing, but made a brief appearance outside the downtown courthouse hours after the proceeding began. She quickly fled, expressing fear of the throng of paparazzi surrounding her.

“Move back. I’m scared. Stop it. Stop it,” she was videotaped telling photographers pressing in on her black Cadillac Escalade.

Court officials said Spears had rebuffed their attempts to move her safely into the courthouse through a private entrance.

The judge did not consider the wild scene outside the courthouse when he made his custody ruling.

“The result is exclusively about what was before the court. The testimony was about that evening,” Parachini told reporters, referring to the Jan. 3 standoff at Spears’ Studio City home.
