The Hottest Holiday Toys of 2011

NEW YORK (MainStreet) — The holiday season may still be a few months away, but Toys R Us has already put together its Hot Holiday Toy List, giving parents a look at the 15 products their kids will likely be begging for between now and the end of the year.

The 2011 hot toy list features dancing robots (the My Keepon), tablets made for kids (the LeapPad Explorer) and several dolls and figurines including the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair dolls and the Moshi Monsters mini figures. What you won’t find on this list are items like Zhu Zhu Pets and Tickle Me Elmos, which were very much in demand in previous years, though Elmo does make an appearance on this year’s list with a little bit of a makeover as part of Sesame Street’s Let’s Rock set.

Don’t try to buy your kids all of these toys, though. MainStreet did some price hunting and found that the total price tag for the 15 toys on this list would be more than $900, though nearly a third of that can be pinned to one toy in particular: the Power Wheels Dune Racer, which retails for $270. The next most expensive toy after that is the LeapPad tablet, which sells for $100.

The average price of the toys on this list is a bit more modest at roughly $62 each. If money is a concern this year, we might suggest buying either the Nerf Vortex Vigilon, a disc shooter, or the Trash Pack Garbage Truck, both of which retail for $20, and throw in the Moshi Monsters Moshling 3-Pack of figurines, which sells for just $6 – the cheapest item by far on the list.
