NEW YORK (MainStreet) – If you’re considering buying a puppy, there are some very good reasons to avoid pet stores. The biggest of course, is that millions of dogs come out of puppy mills every year, where they endure miserable conditions and often wind up with health problems.
As a reward for responsible pet owners who help fight puppy mills by adopting from a shelter, pet food maker Pedigree is offering a month’s supply of pet food to anyone who adopted a dog in 2010. All you need to do is send in your proof of adoption by February and fill out a form, and they’ll send you back a coupon redeemable for a 20-lb. bag of food.
The current promotion only applies to adoptions made in 2010, but that’s no reason to believe the dog chow maker won’t offer the same promotion next year, so keep adoption in mind when planning for a pet this year.
And when you decide what to name your very own man’s best friend, remember that Bella and Max are way overdone.
