A potential Boeing strike could cost the company $3 billion per month. The ripple effects could be even more costly for local economies where the striking workers live.

Boeing has a total of 164,192 employees, according to the company’s employee database. At the moment the 27,000 potentially striking commercial airplane production workers overall, include some 25,000 in Washington (which hosts 76,792 employees, or 47% of the total amount of employees), about 1,500 in District 24 in Grisham, Ore., and about 750 in District 70, located in Wichita, Kan., according to Yahoo! news.

What will a strike mean for other Boeing employees? The answer is that it is too soon to tell. “The vote is today and right now, we’re focused on [reaching] an agreement,” says Boeing spokesperson, Tim Healey. “I don’t want to speculate on the ‘what if?’”

Boeing records it’s total number of employees at the end of each month. Here are the other states with the most employees, as of August 31, according to the company's official website:

California: 27,020 employees

Missouri: 15,701 employees

Pennsylvania: 5,354 employees

Texas: 5,481 employees

Arizona: 4,632 employees
