The risks of shock and burn injuries, contusions and choking have all led to recent recalls of hundreds of thousands of common household and kids’ items.
Mop Steam Cleaners
Exposed wiring on a steam cleaner sold on QVC has caused 10 shock injuries and eight burn injuries leading to a recall of 580,000 appliances.
The H2O Mop Steam Cleaners were sold on QVC televised shopping programs, TV infomercials, on Thane.com and at retailers nationwide from June 2007 through December 2008 for about $100, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which said that power cords can wear down unexpectedly, exposing the wiring.
