Free In-Flight Wi-Fi for the Holidays

The airline experience will get a little better this holiday season.

Google (Stock Quote: GOOG) will be playing Santa Claus this year, offering free Wi-Fi on certain AirTran, Delta and Virgin America flights between Nov. 20 and Jan. 2.

All passengers need to do is bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or smartphone on the flight and they will be able to connect to the Internet for free through the GoGo Inflight Wi-Fi service. Ordinarily, this option costs $12-$15 per flight.

Google launched a similar initiative last year as well, but given all the new airline fees and the fact that airfare is more expensive this holiday season than in 2009, passengers may actually appreciate the perk a little more now.
