Fireworks Are In the Air — And Online

NEW YORK (MainStreet) — Huge fireworks displays on America’s Independence Day are as traditional as grilled hot dogs, apple pie and watermelon, but some people don’t have the advantage of watching these great displays in person.

If you can get there, it’s an awesome experience, but if you can’t, we’ve gathered 10 of the best fireworks displays online:

1. Kailua Beach, Hawaii: Who doesn’t dream of watching fireworks over a romantic Hawaiian Beach? Thanks to Kristy Harper, now even mainlanders can put the YouTube video on their big screen and pretend they are right on the beach. Harper says the display has been going on for more than 60 years. Local residents, merchants and sponsors pay for the display, which will take place this year between 8 to 9 p.m. July 4.

2. Central Pennsylvania Fourth Fest: The fireworks in the courtroom in State College, Pa., might be over by the Fourth, but the ones in the sky will be starting. If you like patriotic music with your fireworks, this fireworks display is the ticket. One of the largest in the country and a tradition since 1927, these fireworks will not disappoint. If you can be there in person, the VIP pass assures the best seats.

3. Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular, New York: Macy’s may be more famously known for that little Thanksgiving Day parade it sponsors each year, but New Yorkers and New Jersey residents alike know it also for the fireworks, which can be viewed from either side of the Hudson River.

4. Independence Day on the National Mall: There’s possibly no more patriotic place to watch Fourth of July fireworks than over the National Mall in Washington, D.C., One of the most well-attended events of the year, festivities begin with a parade in the morning and activities from picnics to concerts are scheduled throughout the day.
