10 Romantic and Affordable Valentine’s Day Getaways

Woodstock Inn, Independence, Mo.: Many people don’t realize that the native city of Harry S. Truman is within Greater Kansas, putting visitors near all the region has to offer. If you and your loved one are history buffs, you can take a tour of the presidential library, then go downtown to Kansas City, Mo., to tour the National World War I Museum and see the architecture of Union Station, where the majority of soldiers during World War II caught trains to their posts. An overnight stay at the inn includes a beautifully appointed king-sized bed and a private luxury bath with whirlpool tub (Italian and French Riviera Suites), a dozen long-stemmed red roses arranged in a vase, a box of luxury chocolates and a bottle of sparkling beverage. Rates start at $180. Add a couple’s massage for an additional $150.

Inn and Spa at Loretto, Santa Fe, N.M.: Heading out west wouldn’t be a romantic adventure without visiting Santa Fe. The Inn and Spa at Loretto is offering the 50 Shades of Santa Fe package, which includes accommodations for two, a $50 hotel credit for spa, restaurant or lounge and a list of 50 romantic things to do in the city. The Inn is in the heart of Santa Fe, steps from the Canyon Road galleries and just one block from historic Santa Fe Plaza’s galleries, museums and boutiques. Package starts at $178.

The U.S. Grant, San Diego: If a playful, seaside getaway is more to your liking, The U.S. Grant is offering the Sweethearts Night In package, which includes an in-room movie credit and an in-room build-your-own sundae bar complete with two house-made ice creams and assorted toppings such as sprinkles, vanilla whipped cream, Grand Marnier berries and the hotel’s signature toffee.
