MainStreet Reacts to What Price Beauty: Sarah Palin’s Look for Less

Sarah Palin’s keeps ‘em talking.

Since McCain announced his VP pick over a month ago, Palin’s generated big money political donations, big ratings for Saturday Night Live http://mainstreet.com/article/lifestyle/entertainment/career-lessons-fey..., and a run on a fashionable glass frames.

In fact when MainStreet.com created a budget friendly guide on how to emulate Sarah Palin’s style, MainStreet readers had a few things to say about Palin and her appearance.

LOVE HER LOOK!
“Sarah is a beautiful and fresh VP hopeful that the American women have fallen in love with. I cannot believe so many women are jealous,” writes Pat Smith. Mark Caldwell adds, “She’s beautiful, intelligent, athletic and sexy. What person isn’t striving for that?”

LOATHE HER LOOK!
“She is very nerdy looking, and all of that hair piled up on her head makes her look like an old woman," says MainStreet reader Kathryn Irby. “I think she sleeps and bathes with that lipstick on!”

NO FAN OF TANS

“The price of beauty can be very high indeed,” cautions one MainStreet reader, Sandra Bekin, from Australia, referring to Palin’s tanning bed, which, according to Palin’s gubernatorial spokesman Bill McCallister, Palin paid for herself. (Price: $3,000.) MainStreet reader Beakin, however, focuses on the health cost.

Commenting on the risks of artificial tanning and regulations in Australia regarding tanning beds and solariums, Bekin writes that this week, researchers from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency published a study  blaming solarium or sun bed tanning for at least 7 deaths and 51 cases of melanoma each year www.themedguru.com.

JUST STICK TO THE ISSUES (WE DID)

Then one MainStreet reader, Emily, wrote, “Sarah Palin is a beautiful woman, but why is it that her appearance is all we talk about? This woman is running for Vice President of this country and all we want to know is what shade of lipstick she’s wearing?”

She’s not alone in this call. MainStreet reader, Hillary wrote, “If you really want to inform us about money, tell us how Sarah Palin managed Wasilla and then the whole state?”

(For the record, MainStreet already met that request)
