Veronica Webb Invests in Apple
When it comes to investing, model and television personality Veronica Webb says she goes with what she knows. These days Webb knows all about Apple (AAPL). "I like to invest in things that I understand. Things that I use," Webb tells MainStreet. "Years ago I bought AT&T because I used the phone all the time. Now I buy Apple because I use [my] Mac all the time."
Looks like Webb is investing wisely. This week market researchers at NPD Group, Inc. reported that Apple is now the number two music retailer in the United States, second only to Wal-Mart (WMT), thanks to the popularity of the iTunes Store. The former Revlon (REV) spokesmodel also told MainStreet that one of the earliest pieces of financial advice she received was “to not shop so much.” (Perhaps she traded her obsession with shoes for iTunes less pricey 99 cent songs?)
But the secret to Webb's financial success isn’t just picking the right stocks, it is also about picking the right advisors. "Ask the most successful person you know who your business manager should be," says Webb. Considering that her industry pals include movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and fashion designer Michael Kors we wonder who she asked. "And if you still don't know, go to somewhere really basic like H&R Block (HRB) because they have been in business for a really long time for a reason."
Webb is currently the co-host of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style. You can check out more of the things Webb loves and uses, stylistically speaking, on Thursdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo (GE).
