Desperate Times Call For Hilarious Measures

The media's already accused Hillary Clinton of using tears to touch voters, but last night the Presidential candidate tried tickling funny bones.

Even though she needed votes in Ohio and Texas, Hillary breezed through New York (via satellite) Monday evening, trading jests on The Daily Show (VIA) with host Jon Stewart. The former first lady also flexed her comedic muscle this past Saturday when she flew to New York from Ohio to film a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live (GE).

“I simply adore Amy's impression of me,” Clinton said, as Amy Poehler, dressed in an identical brown blazer, imitated her deep guffaw. “Do I really laugh like that?” Clinton chuckled in the SNL skit lampooning her serious image. “No politics,” Clinton said. “But, I would like to take this opportunity to say to all Americans, be they from the great state of Ohio, or Texas or Rhode Island or Vermont, Pennsylvania...Live, from New York, it is Saturday Night!”

Well these days Clinton needs the laughs. And the votes. After losing 11 straight election contests since Super Tuesday, her presidential bid hangs in the lurch. Clinton must win Texas and Ohio in order to keep her campaign alive, and current polls suggest the margin separating her from rival Barack Obama is negligible.

Whether Clinton’s impromptu comedy routine wins her voters is still unclear, but when your professional trajectory comes to a standstill, it might be time to shake things up. A career coach can help you pull back and assess the big picture including work and family life. Sometimes a career coach can double as a life coach, like Laurie Sheppard, a Master Certified Life Coach based in Los Angeles, Calif. Sheppard will not only address how to interview, improve your resume and find the right job, she will also make sure you have a solid foundation to build the change upon.
