Will Ashlee's Baby Be Green Like Halle's?

She's clearly in on the "semi-famous little sister of an established pop star gets pregnant and rushes to get married" trend (see also Jamie Lynn Spears). But will she also copy stars like Julia Roberts and Halle Berry and go green once her baby arrives?

The "she" in question is Ashlee Simpson, Jessica's sister, who is said to be expecting, and engaged to rocker Peter Wentz. "Ashlee Simpson is pregnant and plans to get married next month at a private residence in Southern California," an insider told People magazine (TWX). In addition to planning her wedding, Ashlee, 23, may be thinking about ways to bring up her bundle. In the wake of recent reports of potentially dangerous plastics in baby products, MainStreet suggests she and her tot go green.

Earth-friendly motherhood is a budding Hollywood trend. Halle Berry told People her daughter Nahla's nursery was designed to be "organic and eco-friendly." And Julia Roberts swears by eco-friendly nappies. (Roberts got Seventh Generation diapers for twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and Gdiapers for her youngest son Henry.)

But you don't have to be a movie star to bring up your babe in an environmentally friendly way. According to a survey by BabyCenter, 56% of moms are more eco-friendly conscious since becoming a parent. That is because during pregnancy many moms think about their family’s impact on the environment, says Kara Forney, editor of The Bump, an online pregnancy guide. And now more than ever there is an increase in product options for parents, she says. Of course good deeds may come at a price.
