A Spate of Faulty Cribs

In the past nine years, 32 children have died due to faulty cribs. And in the past month alone, eight crib manufacturers issued recalls of their products due to safety hazards.

Here are some of the dangerous cribs you should be on the lookout for and the structural problems you might find with them, as reported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

 

Simmons Drop-Side Cribs

Price: $100 to $500

Problem:

  • Loose drop sides can lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.

Only certain model numbers are affected.

 

Million Dollar Baby, Baby Mod and Da Vinci Drop-Side Cribs

Price: Between $100 and $330

Problems:

  • Loose drop sides can cause a fall or lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.
  • Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.

Only certain model numbers are affected.

 

Delta Drop-Side Cribs

Price: $100 to $300

Problems:

  • Loose drop sides can cause a fall or lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.
  • Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.
  • Mattress platforms may collapse when installed incorrectly, which can cause strangulation or suffocation.

Only certain model numbers are affected.

 

Bonavita, Babi Italia and ISSI Drop-Side Cribs

Price: $300 to $430

Problems:

  • Loose drop sides can cause a fall or lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.
  • Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.

Only certain model numbers are affected.

 

Jardine Drop-Side Cribs

Price: Between $150 and $480

Problems:

  • Loose drop sides can cause a fall or lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.
  • Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.

Only certain model numbers are affected.
