A Spate of Faulty Cribs
In the past nine years, 32 children have died due to faulty cribs. And in the past month alone, eight crib manufacturers issued recalls of their products due to safety hazards.
Here are some of the dangerous cribs you should be on the lookout for and the structural problems you might find with them, as reported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Simmons Drop-Side Cribs
Price: $100 to $500
Problem:
- Loose drop sides can lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.

- Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.

Jardine Drop-Side Cribs
Price: Between $150 and $480
Problems:
- Loose drop sides can cause a fall or lead to entrapment, strangulation or suffocation.
- Incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear may cause drop sides to loosen.
