NEW YORK (MainStreet) — While many people still feel the effects of the recession, most of numbers indicate the U.S. is pulling out of it enough that shoppers have started shopping again.

Hotel Burnham, Chicago: Imagine staying in an award-winning boutique hotel in a historic building just steps from Block 37 and State Street Shopping, a major shopping center in the middle of Chicago’s loop. Omni Severin Hotel, Indianapolis: The hotel will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have modern amenities and luxury. Best yet, it is connected to the Circle Center Mall by a covered skywalk. The mall has more than 100 stores and is near the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, one of the world’s largest children’s museums.

The shopping and entertainment area has scores of upscale stores and restaurants, as well as romantic carriage rides.

Ritz Carlton, Tysons Corner, McLean, Va.: This Washington D.C. metro area hotel was named one of the top 50 hotels in the United States in the Conde Naste Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards. It opens to Tysons Galleria, where shoppers can find such stores as Saks, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Pink, Tory Burch and Versace.
